    When you put your goals in writing and share them with others you have a far greater chance of achievement. What do you most want to accomplish this year?

    1. Become more proficient in SQL and other IT tools.

    2. Stay on top of and achieve academic, work, and personal goals.

    3. Make plans to travel to Japan/Korea either this or next year.

    Here are my 2019 Goals:

    1. Create a coaching funnel and get it up and running (Created. Up. Not Running.)
      1. Outlined a funnel and pricing for each component (Free/email signup, Buy workbook, Join Group, Purchase individual coaching)
      2. Wrote and posted copy for a landing page. (Installed affiliate software as well)
      3. Promote funnel to other transplant community leaders (kind of flopped – needs work. They can be affiliates and get a % via sharing with their networks)
      4. Promote via social media and Rogue Reporter (monthly newsletter) – ongoing. needs to kick into a higher gear.
      5. Get on top of SoMe – holy cow. not yet complete. (or started, really)
    2. Work through telling my story and get it out there. (In progress. 2 blog posts/10 up. Need SoMe marketing procedure written)
      1. Listen to complete ‘Why We Revolt’ audiobook (in progress – have completed first half #ExceptionalCare, #UnintentionalCruelty, #Blur, #Greed, #TreatmentBurden)
      2. Outline basic structure for blog posts including main points from each chapter and hashtags (doing this as I listen, so half-way done)
      3. Write one blog post per chapter idea – done for #ExceptionalCare, #UnintentionalCruelty
      4. Publish and promote – published #ExceptionalCare – need to develop a ‘Promote’ procedure
      5. Create a procedure for ongoing SoMe promotion of older blog posts
    3. Develop a story-telling course and get it out there. (See #2 – using framework from #WhyWeRevolt by Victor Montori, MD)
      1. Continue with Goal #2 until complete – posts have also been shared by Victor Montori, PatientRevolution and HeartSisters (local Heart Disease advocate) on Twitter.
      2. Use the ‘Why We Revolt’ structure and what I learned carrying out Goal 2 to develop the structured course.
      3. Create a marketing funnel for this stand-alone course
      4. Use procedures from Goal 1 to complete this task.
      5. Promote this stand-alone course to transplant clinics in Canada (I have a list as part of our business plan – need to start finding individual people to connect with.)

      Posting goals is great, but I think you need to be more specific.

      1. How proficient in SQL? Is there a certificate you can work toward achieving? What other IT tools? List them. Do the other IT tools have certifications? What are they? Who offers them? What are you going to go after? When?
      2. This is really general. Too general. What grades are you going to get? What are you going to do to get those grades (how much study time, when, where, with who, extra tutoring, etc)?
      3. This or next year means “won’t happen.” Pick a date. Put it in permanent ink on your calendar. Tell your friends you’re going. Then, how much time will you go for? How much money do you need? How much money do you need to save every day to get enough by the date you picked? How will you make this goal work with goal #2?

    Top 3 goals for 2019

    1.  Complete coach training program, market and attract 2 full cohorts of 12-16 new SBC business coaches.

    To do this I will hire a project manager to co-ordinate all the talent on my team including curriculum developer, tool and graphics builders. I will then partner with other coaching companies and associates in the coaching industry to promote and fill my classes.

    2.Build this community. Invite all 300 past clients to join us in supporting each other on our entrepreneurial journey. Add a section for coaches featuring a coach dashboard, payment gateway, contracts, scheduler and client communication portal.

    To do this I have already made a Monthly Challenge Calendar my team and I are committed to communicating with all participants supporting them in what ever they need to be successful in business this year.  The new project manager will set up the coach dashboard as a project plan and again using existing resources get this built before the first class graduates in June.

    3.  Travel

    Our last kid is out of school and independent. This allows us after 31 years of raising kids to finally get away for more than a week.  To Do this we have booked time off , using up all our saved airline points and travelling to Europe this summer. We are also going away in February for a sun vacation.  Would like to add one more music related trip and a few long weekends to round out an amazing 2019 of travel.

    Top 3 Goals for 2019

    1. Complete my ‘simplify’ mission by 1. creating a robust Operations Manual for retail store and manufacturing location

    2. Implement a new inventory system that is accurate and monitored on a regular basis.

    3. Create more space for my personal life! I will do this by spending more time with friends, going out to concerts, exercising and booking a vacation!

    Top 3 Goals for 2019:

    1. Diversify customer base so that no single customer accounts for more than 50% of gross revenue
      • This is a big deal for us since historically one customer (BC Hydro) has accounted for about 95% of gross revenue annually
    2. Achieve maximum profit sharing for employees by hitting our high target of 18% profit margin
      • It will be difficult but it is possible – our F18 profit margin was 14.7% and I spent cash at the end of the fiscal year to reduce taxes by loading up to equip the 3rd bucket truck we were going to rent in Q1 of F19 a bit early
    3. Save 20% of gross of all invoices paid (aka the “Precision Savings Plan”)
      • Target #1 = cover $100K working capital loan from BDC as an emergency fund
      • Target #2 = hold 2 months operating capital ($100K in savings account, separate from BDC $ emergency fund)
      • $200K of emergency money

    Long Term Goal: Operate all equipment, debt-free with 2 months operating capital untouched in the bank and secure financing to purchase Precision Tree Operations Hub to build equity and diversify income via commercial real estate.

    Build strong foundation for my business to create a business that is profitable and self sustaining by the end of the year.

    – Put in right structures in place and automate as much as possible

    – Outsource work that requires administrative and technical skills

    – Find paying clients that value my services and charge what the services (and their results) are worth

    – Build partnerships in the community

    Create valuable content on various platforms to establish myself as an authority figure and credible source of information in my field.

    – Social Media

    – Online Courses

    – Writing a book / e-book

    – Host workshops, events, conferences, etc.

    Learn to manage business accounting and finances

    – keep low overhead costs

    – set marketing budget

    – understand client acquisition cost and set up a referral or affiliate program

    – Get out of bad debt

    Thanks everyone for participating in the January 2019 Business Challenge Contest.  And thank you for allowing me a break last week. While you were busy posting I was taking action on one of my goals to travel in 2019 and  enjoyed ever minute of our Jamaica Vacation.


    Most of you have heard me rave about the online hiring site called Upwork.  We chose Jamaica because one of my Upwork contractors Joanalee lives there and this made this experience exceptional.  Meeting online contractors is proving to be a personally rich and rewarding experience.   Another Upwork contractor visited our home last summer and through that relationship I have been able to have a positive influence on democracy in Nigeria (for real, made me cry)

    Anyway, back on Goals.

    I’m going to award Beth with the January prize for posting first.   Beth’s company has evolved over the years that I have known her and one thing has stayed constant; her desire to make life better for others.

    I will be sending Beth two movie tickets so that she and Tony can enjoy a night out.  Oh, and I just looked in my pile of prizes and found a Whitespot gift card to throw in.

    Thanks everyone for helping me get this community going. I built it for YOU and am grateful to be able to stay in touch in this meaningful way.!  I’m still working out some of the bugs but have been sitting on this thing for 8 months and thought a few bugs are better than not launching.

    A little late but , hey that’s me … crossing t’s and dotting i’s even if it’s late is me too ..

    2019 goals simple

    1. Hone in and target my demographic clientele :

    organically build through existing clientele . Act on location opportunities . Does my demographic do IG ?

    2. Be on time : ( positive anecdote:  time management  opportunist?)

    be in bed lights out by 11:00  . Set an alarm at 10 pm (done )

    3. Redo my service options , time & cost

    write it out ,hone it and add it online

    make a short and sweet sign … ugh

    Hi Lorraine,

    I don’t think it’s too late. I think that part of my process will be reviewing the monthly challenges during my Monday morning CEO time. Mine seem to require ongoing attention and tweaking. 😉
